Chapter Archives - Dan

Dan the Man's History: Dan was raised by his father for the first few years of his life, but, when Dan was about 10 or so, his father was killed in a deathmatch with the kickboxing champion, Sagat. Gouken, a friend of Dan's father, took the young boy in. Gouken was the master of Shotokan karate, and *attempted* to teach his style to Dan, who was one of his first, and only, pupil. Dan couldn't learn, though. Watching his father die so brutally traumatized him in ways not even he understands, and often his anger got the better of him. Gouken cast him from the Shotokan dojo, but left him with the advice that he should channel his anger into something else if he ever wanted to be his own person, and not live for only revenge.

Dan the Man's Plans: Dan, at first, is attempting to help Fei Long locate Fei Long's missing father. After that, I plan for Dan to be the target of an evil man with big plans for everyones favorite Saikyo Master. I'd rather not reveal them at this time, though. If I did, why would you read the chapters!?

Dan the Man's strengths: Though almost no one would believe it, he can actually fight darn good. His problem is that he's never in a situation where he can effectivly use his true power. Most of his fighting techniques were developed to handle specific situations, so he could proove exeedingly useful in an unusual fight. Also, his boasting is mighty, and his taunts throw often cool and collected oppenents into blinding anger rages. The one skill he has that he doesn't exagerate is his cooking ability, which is pretty darn impressive in itself. Dan is a master chef and can find food anywhere, even in the wild.

Dan the Man's weaknesses: His fighting skill. Like I said, his fighting ability has been overspecialized, so its difficult for him to adapt to 'normal' hand-to-hand fighting. Even with his Shotokan training, he has often lost several matches to Ryu, Ken, and Akuma. Also, he relies on his taunting to boost his confidence. if he can't even get the chance to talk, he wont be able to unleash his more 'impressive' moves. Though no one so far has been able to figure why he developed the Super Taunt move or why it requires so much taunting to build in the first place. Also, many MANY other fighters have heard of how Dan sucks in hand to hand combat, so he doesnt get much respect anywhere.
