"What Dreams Are Made Of" With a nod, the braided girl dismissed Lin Lin back to her own space. She certainly had a lot of questions, everything from the internal circulations and the elements. She listened attentively to Lin Lin's lectures and had a lot of commentaries based on what was said. She didn't seem to know that much. What did they instruct their priestesses these days? It was certainly discouraging. Even more discouraging is the fact anyone would even think of invocaing that particular curse ever again. She pulled her head away. "No, that is not something I freely give out." "Refusing to answer a student's honest question, not very virtuous is it?" The girl knew how to pull the right strings. "This isn't either. It's too dangerous, and will cause more suffering into the world." "That's an arbituary descision without much knowledge.." "I'll gladly answer all your questions, just not the Kuang shi formula. I apologize." "Hmph. What a waste of time..." "Waste of time? Never. There are always better alternatives to any plan, especially if done in accordance with The Way." "Like what? I'm not for riddles!!" She floated on the rivers of emptyness, waiting to connect her back to her original body. This was certainly not something that was comfortable to do, but there was not much choice as it were right now. More suffering, yes, like the one she already caused. Dragging her poor sister into this form which she had no knowledge of it's real conditions. Two hundred years could have been well spent on cultivation instead of seeking aggression, she might have been able to petition over there on behalf of her mother's soul. To escape the prison beore trying to help everyone else out. It was too late now, she lacked enough spirit to produce anything. And she couldn't leave Lei Lei alone. Take care of your sister she needed her guidance, physically and mentally. For better or for worse they were connected until the mission was completed. For two centuries this was something that could be done easily. But who was that medium the priestess has used? For some reason, Lin Lin felt comfortable in it, not the same ill-felt feelings that would dwell in a possesed body. There needed to be something behind that girl, and she would know the explination once they got back to the physical human kingdom. Truth be known, she wanted to meet the other priestess again. Lin Lin smiled, almost ashamed of herself, but it was flattering to be remembered so long after you're gone. The disorientation and hallucinatory contemplation of the body was over as the castle fuzzed back into view. "Another calling?" Lady Sierra said. "The many perks of being a spirit." Lin Lin replied. "Where's Sister?" The Lady said nothing, instead pointing to where the Kuang Shi was. And she was walking without guidance of spirit energy. "Hey!!" The now walking Lei Lei looked at her and smiled. "Lyd! Lookit this!!" She waved her arms frantically, which looked like birds fluttering of wings with the long sleeves. "Lyd...?" What was wrong with Sister? She wiggled herself and crying in an ecstatic voice that she was finally free to do what she wanted in her dreams. She then started giving little faces. "Ooooh, what's up with you?" Lei Lei said. She wouldn't..... She did. Like an ingracious guest she started poking the cheeks of Lady Sierra. "This...this is unacceptable! Stop that!!" Lei Lei took no notice and poked more. "How pale is that. And it isn't even make up. Wow, I sure do imagine weird things." "Yes," Sierra said dryly. Clearly not amused (and who would blame her?) "Will you stop that now?" She blinked. "Huh? Oh, okay. Sorreeeeee." Sierra said, "she has been acting this way for quite a few moments. It appears something else must be controlling her." Something else... This was fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun. Oh yeah, all her doubts about the Lucid Dreaming books were put to rest. Now she could be blue zombie girl and do whatever she wanted in this weird little world filled with vampires and ladies who looked like sheets. Lydia was freaking out as usual. Hehehehehe, she looked weird. Earth tones did not match her well, and that giant hat wasn't good at all. Who are you? The voice called inside her head. Oh, so this dream also has mind parasites types? How cool! Huh, dream? So this is just a dream? Yep! No....how strange, I never have any thoughts in my dreams and everyone looks so real it's amazing...huh...is this prophetic? Ooookay, she frowned now your confusing me. What looks real? You're confusing me too! Who are you? I'm Jennifer, who are you? Lei Lei. Why are you invading my body? If you're one of those hungry ghost types I don't have much to eat anyway. You should wait till the ceremony? Hungry ghost? What? I didn't know ghosts could get hungry, do they eat at McDonalds? Tee-hee!! Mayc....? Lydia dressed in weird clothes extended a hand. So she had no idea who she was or what she was doing, since her eyes looked really confused at this outburst. That made sense, she couldn't control her dreams either before this. "Sister...are you feeling ill?" "Sister? Hehehe, no need to be so formal sis!" "This appears to be a case of obsession..." pale lady said. Jennifer couldn't resist poking her cheeks again. Aaaaaah! Stop that!!! You're being a terrible host and Sister looks like she'll explode!! She did look rather freaked out. Lydia wasn't remembering anything at all and continued acting out this little dream role. So she was the one with the upper advantage this time? Cool! "Of course I'm alright! Lookit this!!" She did things she wouldn't dare do in waking hours. Jennifer waved those hideously long sleeves trying to will an object to pull out. What came out... ..bombs and knives? No no no, she didn't want those! Be careful with those Ah, this was it. The microphone! "I can siiiiing!" She waved around. Let's boogie! Bou....kee? "I'll forgive,
She sang off key, but t'was alright. Not like there'd be any real critics here. She heard Lydia whisper to pale lady. She was called...ah..Sierra, right? Anyway. She said, "better the devil you know? So this is a demon invocation chant?" "Heeeey!" She frowned. "Just cause you don't like my singing doesn't mean you can say stuff like that." More singing time! There was no telling when she'd wake up and this was a good opportunity to practice her singing. "Shocked by the poweeeeeer!" She started prancing around the room, gracefully (well, as graceful as a giant blue zombie type can be) avoiding any objects. Before she knocked a red vase looking thing. Ooops. "Please be careful!" Pale....Sierra said. "That has a dangerous genie trapped in it." Don't break anything. "Oh don't be so worried, I'll just will it back if I break it." "No one has that power!" "Sure I can, you silly dream image." "Dream image?" Poor pale lady was really shocked to find out what she was. "Whatever obsessing spirit you are, you are poorly mistaken." "Oh yeah? Well...I'll prove it to you." Lydia and Sierra was standing next to each other. This was devilishly perfect. "I'll make you two kiss each other!" They both blushed profusely and looked at the ground. Why did you have to taunt them like that? It was really malicious of you.... "I said. I wiiiiiiiiiiiill it!" Lydia slowly took two subtle steps away. "Darn...." "This is no dream, Lei Lei..." I think they're talking to you No way, I'm finding this guiltily fun, she'd never let me away with this. Heheheh. She stepped back. The hallway was really big that she tried to imagine it shrinking or the books start flying everywhere or for coffee drinking monkies who speak in armanian to use dynamite and explode themselves. No such luck. "I know!" She said, getting more and more desperate. "I'll make Donnie appear! Yeah! Porioriorioooooooi!" And then came. Nothing. Huh... Lady Sierra told you no one could do that sort of thing, and she knows a lot. So this isn't....a dream? I told you. She looked sloooowly at herself, a giant blue thingy with clothes that belonged to a cheesy martial arts movie. And this wasn't a dream at all. "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!!" Jennifer didn't really know what to do now. What if she stayed in this body forever? How did she get here? Why were they seeing this real thing in their dreams? And how can there be a weird wacky world of demons and vampires? "Eeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!" Who? What? Where? Why? HUH? She felt dizzy. Lydia was gone, and her view was blurred by something between her eyes. Bfszt Oh! Ah! Hmmm.....that was.....really really really strange. How would she explain any of this to Sister? Unless they already figured it out, as they always do. Oh well... You shouldn't have been so disruptive... I'll forgive you, for I know how hard it is to be an undead. Undead? I'm not undead? Am.....I? "Sister?" Lin Lin said with concern. "Are you back?" Poor Sister was getting worried about her. She gave a reassuring smile. "I'm here!" "Is the spirit still there?" I'm not a spirit! "She's here." It's not so bad, being undead. You get a lot of free perks. Name one? Well, if you're the mental parasite type you can get into the minds of others Heeeeey, that's true! "Ask her what she wants." See, it's fun. Though Sister just worries too much. I want to know about the dreams "What dreams?" Lei Lei said. Everyone else echoed her question. "Ooops, did I say that out loud?" Lady Sierra walked forward. "Dreams? Hmmm, now this truly is fascinating." Sister nodded. "Links?" "Between a lower astral plane entity with similar energy?" There they go again, talking about things I can't possibly understand. How discouraging. And why are they still calling me a spirit? I'm a human! From the USA!!! "West...." They turned to her. "What?" "She says she's a human, from the West. Er...the geographical one on earth, not the paradise realm, that is..." "Lower astral entities always lie" Grrrrr..... Don't get mad, they always talk like this. It's their fun hobby. Yeah well...I'll show you, I'm about to wake up now!! NO She's baaaaaaaaaaaack, hehehehehe. What are you going to do? She.....had no idea. How do you wake up? Usually the alarm clock or Lydia wakes her up, or a nightmare. But to willfuly wake up? It's not like she's ever done this Lucid dreaming buisness a lot. Ah well. So this is a back to the future-type thing, right? Where I run as fast as I can and break the reality barriers or something.. What are you doing?!?! Fast as fast can be. She ran with all her speed, waiting for some sort of teleporation magic to turn her into flames and take her out. She might wake up, or at least, if she truly is a spirit, float out of the body. Faster and faster and
OW-
The spirit truly was a crazy one. Lin Lin had seen many types before, but none of them were this strange. And it showed no experience either. 'Obsessing spirits', as Lady Sierra called them, would know that whatever they did to the body they occupied they would experience the same pain. There was the spirit, lying on the floor dazed, as anyone would after running directly into a wall. Then the oddest spectacle of them all came around. Was the spirit completely taking over? Or was it leaving? Lin Lin...tried
to prepare the an improvised exorcism, desperate circumstances called for
it, but the blinding phoenix light protected the spirit, along with Sister,
in a wall of flame.
"Are you following?" This wasn't a question Lin Lin ever expected the Lady to say. "Following? I don't have any information about what's going in there. It could be anything." "Anything, yes. Anything is not a bad thing." She lowered her head. She had to do it, even if Lei Lei could walk with a spirit possesing her, there was no guarantee this one wouldn't turn malicious once it sucked her into it's own realm. She needed someone there for her. "We need more...information.." Lady Sierra said, "that is a privelage we cannot afford. There are simply
some things that only experience could dictate."
That was it. The fire wasn't fire at all. And an all too familiar spinning came around. Great.
God damnit Jennifer.....must she always make so much noise at night? Sleep was something she really needed, especially with the past few days being nothing but a fragmented daze, an illusion. There are some things that could not be forgotten, but the fact it mixed up with completely outlandish images she couldn't decide which was actual memory and what was brain fry. Yep, those amnesia heroes certainly had it rough. Wonder if they had weird images. "Jennifer...don't take this the wrong way." She didn't even bother to wake up. "But shut up." Muffled sounds. There was only muffled sounds as reply. Oh shit, was this one of those serial murdering Urban Legends and she'll find the message that it's good she didn't turn the lights? Oh damn, one of her wake up brain fries. None of that. Lydia turned on the lamp, and turned to Jennifer. An arm, really, since Jennifer was like, stuck between a giant blue thing and a girl with a huge weird hat. "If you're gonna play with those giant stuffed toys, please wait till tommorrow. Honestly!" Just chalk it up to brainfry. |
