The shrill sound of ringing bell echoed in Kyosuke's ear. He picked up what few books he had and headed out of the room. It was his last class of the day, Physics, and his teacher had been droning for the past forty minutes. Kyosuke headed down the hallway toward the door. Hinata spotted him on the way out, closing her locker and walking out with him. "Kyosuke!" Hinata chimed, "I haven't seen you all day! Where have you been?" Kyosuke remained silent in thought. "Kyosuke!" Hinata screamed, getting angry. "Oh, Sorry Hinata," Kyosuke said, turning to her. "I wasn't paying attention, thinking of something else." "Hyo?" Hinata asked. "Hyo?" Kyosuke replied, "What would I think of Hyo for? He went back to school, what does it have to do with me?" Hinata sighed. "He's so weird sometimes," Hinata thought to herself, "Hyo just left the week before school started without notice and Kyosuke has acted as if nothing has happened." Hinata looked back up at Kyosuke. "You and Batsu are coming to see me play tomorrow, right?" She asked him. "Of course. Good luck by the way." Kyosuke said. The next day was the Taiyo-Pacific Sports Competition or TPSC. The TPSC was a yearly even where the two schools' best sports faced each other for their final games. Hinata was on Taiyo High's basketball team and the Pacific team was tied with hers-this game would decide who won and who lost the competition. "Great!" Hinata said to Kyosuke, walking up her driveway home. "See you tomorrow!" she said, closing her door. Kyosuke waved to her, lowering his head to think again of his brother.
"Iincyo, you're doing great! Just spike this next one and we'll win!" Hinata cheered. Iincyo nodded, going up to spike the next ball. Going up a little too late, the ball soared over her head and hit one of her teammates in the leg, falling to the ground. The buzzer sounded. Iincyo started to walk slowly to the bench, head down.
So far, Taiyo High had been doing pretty well in the Taiyo-Pacific Sports Competition. Two losses, two wins and one tie. This last loss had made it clear that the only way to win was to win the next game.
"And now the contestant for the final event of the day should proceed to the locker rooms to change." said the announcer. "That's me." Said Hinata getting up to go. She turned to Iincyo, who had sat down beside her. "It's okay, Iincyo, we can still win. At least you tried." Iincyo looked up at Hinata. "No, it's not okay, I can't do it." "All contestants should proceed to the locker rooms immediately!" The announcer repeated, obviously ticked off. "I have to go." Hinata said, leaving. Iincyo did not even look up to say goodbye.
"Personal Foul!" the ref screamed, blowing the whistle in Kyosuke's ear. Since the beginning of the game, Pacific High had been fouling left and right and it was starting to get annoying. The ref looked back to see a player come flying into him, falling. "ANOTHER FOUL!" The ref said, running back in. "This game is over." He moved his thumb across his throat, canceling the game. Hinata stomped over to the bench. "Arrgh!!" Hinata screamed, "What is wrong with them?"
Hinata turned around and saw some of the Pacific High students talking to Koji, another player on her team. They started to push him and he started to fight. Soon, a lot of the Pacific and Taiyo students were fighting. Hinata turned to see one of the best players on their team, Mina, being attacked. "Mina!!" Hinata ran to help her.
By now Kyosuke and Batsu had gotten up to help stop the fight, separating people. "Hinata!" Batsu screamed, seeing Hinata arrived to help Mina and being kicked in the face by the guy attacking her. Batsu charged at the guy, beating him to the ground. "Wha-?"Kyosuke turned and ran to pull Batsu off of the guy. "What are you doing?" Batsu screamed, trying to get free. "He just kicked Hinata in the face!" Kyosuke let Batsu go as the guy ran. "Calm down, Batsu! We were stopping the fight!" Batsu nodded, running to Hinata. By now, the fight had stopped and most of the Pacific students had fled.
"Are you okay?" Batsu said, helping Hinata up. Hinata rubbed her chin. "Yeah, I'm okay. Where's Mina?" Hinata looked around. "She was just here." Iincyo ran up to them, breathing hard. "Hi-Hinata," Iincyo said, catching her breath, "Some guy just ran off with Mina!" "What!?" Hinata said, clenching her fists. "Where did he go?!" Iincyo shook her head. "I really don't know, I lost him in the crowd. I did see him though. He had long white hair, he was wearing a bright red jumpsuit and he was tall and thin. One thing stood out though, he had a long sword on his belt." Kyosuke looked shocked. "That sounds like Hyo."
Hinata nodded, answering Iincyo. "It'll be okay, Hinata, we'll find her." Iincyo patting Hinata on the back. Hinata, Iincyo, Batsu and Kyosuke were sitting on a bench near Hinata's house. Hinata pleaded. "*crying* We have to find her!" "Tomorrow we'll start looking, first thing in the morning." Batsu said, "tomorrow."
"Everything has gone according to plan?" "Yes sir. We've kidnapped the girl." "Good. You know what to do." "Roger." "You are dismissed." "Thank you, sir. We'll start preparation immediately." "Good. Oh, and take these orders with you." He slid a folder from his desk into the light. Through the darkness, you could still see his teeth, grinning. "Yes sir," the other man said , taking the folder under his arm. "Right away." The door clicked shut as he left. "Perfect."
Hinata rolled over, looking at her clock. "10:27!, I have to go!" She slipped on a skirt and a shirt that had been left at her bed and ran down the stairs. "Bye mom, I have to go." Hinata said, picking up a cupcake for the tray on the counter. "Bye!" said her mother.
Hinata jumped onto her bike, pedaling as fast as she could.
"Where is she?" Batsu said, looking at his watch. "She's ten minutes late." "She'll be here.", said Iincyo, getting up to look down the sidewalk. "Here she is." She said, seeing Hinata pedaling towards them. "S-Sorry I'm late." Hinata said breathing hard, "Slept late." "Good." said Kyosuke, "now we can start to look." "Any suggestions where to start?" he said, looking around. "Back at the school," Iincyo said, "after the incident, I stayed behind and caught up with you, remember?" Hinata, Batsu and Kyosuke nodded. "Well, I found this where I saw Mina kidnapped." she said, taking something out of her pocket. She held out a pin with the Justice High logo on it.
There was hardly anyone outside Justice High when they arrived. Just a few people playing basketball on the court and the Janitors cutting the grass. Not surprising for any school, it was 5:00 and school had been over since 3:00. "This is it." Iincyo said, pointing towards the School.
Hyo Imawano sat in the student council room alone, thinking. The meeting had ended at least a half hour earlier. He headed slowly out of the room and down the hallway towards the exit. Passing one of the rooms, a faculty lounge he heard his name and moved closer to the door.
"Hyo Imawano is a perfect subject. He will do perfectly." A voice said. Hyo immediately recognized the voice as a new teacher, Mr. Tokiyara. "Isn't that right, Mina?" Tokiyara said. Hyo looked around and moved to see into the room through a space in the blinds. A young girl was strapped into the chair with a gag in her mouth. In front of her was Mr. Tokiyara, A tall man, about six foot six and he was normal sized otherwise. He was talking quietly into the girls ear, an Hyo only caught a few words: "Kill Hinata Wakaba."
