Hokuto was raised as a member of the Bushinryu ninja clan, which Guy is also part of. She, along with her older brother Kairi and her younger sister Nanase, were trained in the ways of the Bushin, a martial arts form which has its roots in a variety of armed and unarmed fighting techniques, including archery, Shotokan karate, even fan dancing.

In addition to being a ninja, Hokuto is also a young Shinto priestess within the clan. (Note: Shinto Priestess Hokuto is a secret character that can be unlocked in SFEX3)

Their parents having died several years ago, the three siblings were cared for by their godfather, who taught them much of their Bushin art. As time passed, Hokuto watched as her beloved brother's personality darkened and his training and pursuit for power intensified. Then, when Kairi turned 17, he disappeared.

Hokuto was never told what happened to him until a few years later, when she became a fully trained ninja herself. Her godfather told her that the clan elders feared that Kairi had left home to practice a forbidden Bushin technique.

Unbeknownst to Hokuto, Kairi, and Nanase, the three siblings are descended from the priestess that defeated Ashura, their very bodies locking away the demon essence with the Seal of Blood... a secret that their godfather hopes they will never have to discover.

Anyways, the elders assigned Hokuto to find her older brother and stop him before he completely followed this path of evil.

Character Plans: Now a full-fledged Batsu ninja, Hokuto finds it ironic that she must leave her home and sister behind in order to stop her brother from learning the very technique that he himself had abandoned them for.

In search of Kairi, she pursues any lead she can find that might reveal the whereabouts of her brother. Along the way, I hope to have this reclusive girl learn more about the outside world and make friends along the way.

Character Strength: This pretty 17 year old may appear frail, but where she lacks in physical strength, her years of Bushin ninja training have turned her into a very quick and agile fighter, skilled in a variety of armed and unarmed, offensive, defensive, and counter-attacking fighting styles.

A master of the Yumi, the traditional Japanese archery bow used by bushi up until the 17th century, Hokuto has learned how to combine this skill with the focusing of chi to produce powerful arrows of energy.

In addition, she is trained in Soudori (a form of Japanese fan dancing), and has applied the beauty and grace of this traditional art form to her mastery of the fan weapon-art of tessen-jutsu.

She is also good at cooking, calligraphy, and playing the koto (a stringed instrument dating back to the 8th Century), and is a great date to bring to a kabuki drama or tea ceremony.

Character Weakness: Raised in a very sheltered
environment with little exposure to the fast-paced world outside of her clan, Hokuto is blossoming into a young Japanese woman in the very classical sense. Very
soft-spoken and mild, she finds the modern-day world to be hectic, a bit overwhelming and intimidating, if not somewhat exciting.

She is very obedient of her clan elders, especially her godfather, never before questioning what they have taught her or ordered her to do.

However, now Hokuto is starting to have her doubts. When she does find her brother, she wonders if she can actually stop Kairi, the most important person in her life whom she would do anything for. And what about Nanase? Hokuto carries a heavy heart, guilty about leaving her younger sister behind.

Finally, there's the warning her godfather gave her before she left on her journey. "Hokuto-chan, be careful that you do not become give into the same temptation as Kairi-kun and follow the evil path of Ashura. Be strong, not only for your sake, but for Nanase-chan's as well."

Hokuto is unaware that Ashura is really a demonic spirit, rather than just some type of forbidden Bushinryu fighting technique. She knows that it is very important for her to find her brother, but is unaware of the sheer gravity of the situation.
