![]() Background: Many boys start out with relatively normal jobs: paper carriers, waiters, mowing lawns, and the like. This was not so for Gen. His first job was a position as an errand boy for the Triads. For a long time, Gen had practiced in many styles of martial arts for self-defense in his new life. He couldn’t decide on one, so he chose several. He eventually became very well versed in all of the styles he studied. His quickly developing skill caught the eye of an old Triad assassin. This assassin had studied in the killing martial arts. He saw Gen’s potential and taught him his techniques so as to pass on his legacy. As with his previous training, Gen learned quickly and became very talented. Once the assassin was pleased with Gen and his ability, he tested Gen with an actual victim to kill. Gen killed the man within five minutes. The leaders of the Triads were so impressed with what they saw in Gen that they promoted him immediately to an assassin. Gen rose to the top as he gained the respect of more and more people. He soon was not only an assassin, but an important member of their world as well. During his travels throughout the world, Gen met a woman in China. The woman’s name was Maya and they fell in love shortly after meeting. Though Gen was still a member of the Triad, he wanted to start a family with her. The couple had a little boy and they named him Lee. Sadly, Gen had to leave shortly after his birth and was unable to see his family for the next six years. Upon returning, Gen saw his son struggle with the bullies in the neighborhood. Instead of going to the children’s parents, Gen taught Lee to defend himself. Though Lee gained skill, Gen could never gain respect for his son because of Lee’s constant dislike for the Triads. When Lee was old enough to start a family of his own, he left Gen and married. Gen never saw his sons until some time after the first Street Fighter tournament. Lee had disappeared, and his wife had died. Gen was left to take care of the twin sons. He taught them martial arts as early as possible, and they didn’t have a hatred for the Triad. Though Gen was pleased about this at first, he finally decided that he didn’t want them to live his empty life of killing. He took them out of the organization and paid the Triad leaders to deny their history with them. Gen left the two boys, Yun and Yang, under the care of his wife and resumed his natural life. He saw them again from time to time, but his job kept him away most of the time. Character Plans: Gen’s position with the Triads gives him many enemies. His job as an assassin gives him even more. Gen must deal with attempts on his life and jobs the Triads have for him. He can never leave them for as long as he lives. Gen will also be dealing with matters concerning his son as well as Yun and Yang. Character Strengths: Gen has studied under various fighting styles and He can use many of them very well. He keeps an opponent off balance because he rarely repeats the same move twice if he doesn’t have to. Gen is also a master of incapacitating his foes. He can hit certain points on their body so that they can’t strike or sometimes move properly. His speed is also very impressive. Gen’s connections with the underworld can help him immensely. He’s known almost everywhere. Character Weakness: Gen is very old, so he can’t take hits too well at all. His flowing fighting movements, though deadly, are often simple to doge or counter if he misses. His primary style of attacking relies heavily on precision. If he’s even the slightest bit off, the attack could very well not hurt the opponent at all. As I said in his plans, Gen’s position with the Triads doesn’t offer many allies. When he travels alone, he has to be wary of every person. |
