Character Background: Donovan Baine was an ordinary teenager, at least until his mother was murdered. After she died, Donovan's father revealed that he was of the race of the Darkstalkers, as was Donovan. He told his son that his mother wasn't needed to bring him up anymore and would only get in the way in the future. It was for this reason that she was killed by the Darkstalkers. Donovan was asked to come to the Darkstalkers realm, but he refused and attacked his father for having a hand in his mother's death. His father told him that he would feel the need for blood one day and eventually understand, but Donovan refused to believe it, and left his father forever.
Weeks later, while resting in a town, Donovan felt a terrible urge. He didn't know what it was, but he knew that he had to be with somebody, anybody. He found a woman in the streets, and asked her to come with him to his inn room. The woman foolishly agreed and went to the inn with Donovan. She did not come out. The woman was lying dead on his bed. Her neck had been bitten. It was Donovan who drank her blood. He burned the body later that night, and left the town, avoiding any people he saw. One day, he came across a monastery. They offered him shelter, but he refused and told them of his urge to kill and feed. One of the monks there came up to him and looked him closely in the eyes. He told Donovan that there was hope, for he was not completely consumed by the evil within him. He told him that, with help, he would stop feeling the blood urges. So Donovan decided to live with him so he could be helped. The monk brought up Donovan for the next six years. Soon, Donovan no longer felt his need for blood. During those years, he was trained in his spirituality and his body. He became strong and in tune with the spirits. Though he went through all of this, he still felt hatred toward his father and the Darkstalkers for the death of his mother, and the ruining of his life. He could never feel at peace knowing that the Darkness within him would never truly leave. He told his friends and superiors at the monastery that he would one day get rid of all the Darkstalkers, and he was going to find and kill every single one. Throughout his travels to find the Darkstalkers, he found an old hermit that had much knowledge of the demon world. He gave Donovan Dhylec, a special sword which channeled the energy of the user's spirit, to help him in his quest. He told Donovan that his journey would be a difficult one, but he was chosen to be the one to help end the darkness and bring the light. It was his destiny to find and protect the savior of the world, who would aid him greatly in his quest. Now Donovan goes to look for this savior and, of course, kill any Darkstalkers that he encounters along the way. Character Plans: Simply, Donovan wants to rid the earth of the Darkstalkers, and he thinks that, without somebody to stop them, they will destroy the earth. For reasons he doesn't know, Darkstalkers have been appearing more and more frequently. This makes his task much more difficult. He also plans to find the savior that he was told about, for he knows that they will be the key to ending the Darkstalkers' reign. Character Strengths: Donovan has had much training with reaching the spiritual world. Since he has spent so much time communicating with the spirits through meditation, he is able to call upon them with the help of Dhylec. He also has a bond with Dhylec though his spirit, and is able to control it with his mind to some extent. He is moderately strong, but he's no powerhouse. Character Weaknesses: While Donovan does have some strength, he's not too skilled with true hand to hand fighting, he'd much rather use his sword. Another problem Donovan has is almost total lack of compassion for Darkstalkers. If he sees a one, he won't hesitate to kill it, even if it's friendly. Donovan also tends to hold back a bit when fighting humans. He feels that the Darkstalkers have hurt humans so much that they don't deserve to receive any more pain, but no mater who or what it is, he will not tolerate the killing of innocent people. |
