![]() This very training, however, caused him to begin to doubt the faith he learned along with the communication and physical practice. If God is on their side, and victory is assured, why does he need to be able to excite a crowd into a mob, and out-argue those who disagree? Boman wanted to spend some time away from his parents and their congregation, so he could examine his beliefs without causing anyone else to doubt, in case he decides his parents are right. And when he left, he did so with trademark thoroughness and his father's blessing, and traveled almost halfway around the world. While at Pacific, Boman concluded that God is real, and that He guided the evolution of life in this world. Then, during the Justice High abductions, Boman came to understand that, be they American or Nihon-jin, all people have souls, and he chose to remain in Japan. After all, there are many people who can help in his parent's thriving church, but few indeed are the Christian preachers in Japan. Character Plans: While returning to the Pacific High dorm after some charity work and giving a sermon, Boman hears screams, and interrupts a vampire attack. His glowing cross drives the minor darkstalker away, and Boman performs some research. He learns of the existence of the forces of the Dark, and he learns that is was not his cross, but his faith that drove away the creature. And he begins, once again, to doubt... Character Strengths: Boman is tall, strong and surprisingly agile. He knows (at least) English, Hebrew, Japanese, German, Mandarin, Cantonese, Polish, Russian, French, and Hindi. He has memorized much of the Bible, and has read most of the other holy books of the planet. He is skilled at rhetoric, although he is strongest in English, Japanese and Cantonese. He has excellent discipline and a caring spirit. Character Weaknesses: Being two meters tall (6' 6") in Japan means that Boman sticks out like a sore thumb. In combat, he lacks any sort of throwing weapon or chi-attack. He is alone, even among his friends old and new, for his faith holds him apart even as it keeps him strong. Being powerful and quick is of no help inside his own mind, and it is impossible for the mind to use either the discipline of the flesh or rhetoric to control itself. Boman must deal with the knowledge that with faith, a can of beer will protect as well as his cross (as long as it's not light beer :), and that prayers go unanswered while demons roam the world. |
