![]() Character Background: Born and raised in New York City, Alex grew up being no stranger to the brutal realities of life. Losing his parents to an accident he says little about, he would have been destined for an orphanage if not for the intervention of a close friend of his father's, Tom. A tough-spirited military man, Tom ran a gym that specialized in teaching soldiers the ways of military martial arts. He felt he owed his late friend for saving his life back in Vietnam, so he took the young Alex under his wing, training and raising him like a son. The boy naturally thrived in this newfound environment. Where he had once been a slight child, Alex quickly grew to become a man of intimidating stature and power. He was indebted to Tom...and he loved him as if he were his own father. Life for Alex was relatively simple. His only other family was Patricia, Tom's fourteen-year-old daughter, who he considered his little sister since he had been taken in. Despite no mother figure to help care for their home, they lived comfortably enough on the edges of Manhattan. Alex was diligent in his training, confident in his own skill and those taught to him by his mentor. Not once did he doubt that strength. The relative peace of that regiment quickly found itself interrupted. Without word of his intentions, Tom mysteriously vanished, leaving no clue to his whereabouts. Knowing that he was not the type to leave him or Patricia in the dark, Alex naturally worried and sought to find out where he vanished to. It wasn't long before he discovered what had happened to Tom; much to his horror, he found him lying within a hospital bed, grievously wounded at the hands of an unknown warrior. Anger was swift to swell up within him. A vow was quickly made: he would find the one responsible for Tom's humiliation and claim vengeance, no matter the strength of his new-found foe. The fire within the young brawler's eyes was so great that Tom reluctantly let his adopted son pursue his wishes for retribution. Sure, it's easy to vow revenge, but getting it is another matter... Character Plans: Somewhere in the world, the mystery man who injured Tom lurks...and Alex is determined to find him. The path to revenge, however, is never clear cut--he is about to learn this painful fact personally. His is a mind clouded with anger, his actions uncertain. It's merely a matter of time before he discovers that his new-found purpose of vengeance branches out and affect others besides himself, whether he knows it or not... Character Strengths: Size, strength, and skill are Alex's greatest assets...and he uses them all to their fullest advantage. While his stature doesn't allow him to be incredibly agile, he is still surprisingly speedy for his size. He also sets his mind completely on the fight, heightening his awareness and reflexes. Those cold blue eyes of his burn with intelligence, not mindless strength. Strong-willed to the point of stubborness, Alex rarely diverts himself from a set task, even if it means personal harm. He loaths seeing a wrong go unpunished and will go to great lengths to see justice administered. Even so...below his insensitive, unsmiling facade is a kind-hearted man who cherishes his family. He's definitely the type who would go out of his way to help someone he truly cares about. Character Weaknesses: While he has the soul of a fighter, Alex is restricted by a mind clouded by rage. Other than Tom, there has been no other form of guideance in his life; he is just as used to taking care of himself out on the street as he is helping his surrogate family. Due to this fact, he has gained a rather notorious reputation as a successful street fighter. Grudges are a hard thing for him to let go, especially if he's been provoked in some way. His brusque, honest nature shows when he speaks his mind. Pair this with his seemingly insensitive demeanor and what's gained is another set of factors that typically start fights. Because of this, his friends number few. He doesn't trust easily, thus he has a hard time opening up to others. Alex definitely seems a rowdy youth itching for trouble. Few know the softer, much more compassionate side he actually possesses. |
